My sister, Beth, got married a few weeks ago. I like her new husband, Mark, quite a bit. He’s a physics professor at Indiana University, has a PhD from MIT and is master of the “bad joke”. I love bad jokes.
I’d not had a chance to see either of them much since just after the wedding, so it was nice when I recieved an invite for Ann and I to come visit them at their house in Bloomington last week. Saturday afternoon Ann and I packed up the car, brought out my new digital camera, and headed south for some much desired rest and relaxation.
Unlike our previous trips to Bloomington, I drove. Our first trip down, Ann wanted to
look for a sofa for her apartment, so we took her truck. On the second trip down, we took a sofa down to Beth, AND finally got Ann the sofa she wanted for her apartment. Again, we took her truck. This time, since no furniture moving was taking place, it was my turn to drive. We took my trusty Honda Civic.
Because I was driving, I tasked Ann with taking pictures of our trip with my new camera. She did a pretty good job of that, capturing some neat pictures. Others were blurred too bad to really make out what they were of, probably due to the car’s motion.
When we got to Bloomington, we sat around for a while waiting for dinner to be finished. We had some chocholate martini’s while we waited. Shaken, not stirred. They were pretty good, though they were strong enough that I thought my throat was going to bleed.
We had ribs for dinner, and they were really tasty. I don’t usually eat ribs, so that’s saying something. Beth made Apple Pie for desert, it too was good (especially when I ate the last piece for breakfast sunday…. Sorry Ann!). After dinner we sat around and watched TV and drank. Everyone (except Ann… again, sorry!) was exhausted, so we all went to bed pretty early.
Sunday Beth Mark and I ate the last of the pie while Ann was still sleeping. I realize now that perhaps i should have saved some for her. I didn’t, and I can’t change that, so I should consider myself lucky that she came to terms with being without pie for the rest of the weekend. I should also consider myself lucky that she forgot to take the cherry pie from my fridge that she claimed was all hers.
We ate lunch at some pizza place, I couldn’t tell you which one though. They screwed up half our pizza, but it was still tasty so I didn’t care that much. Afterwards, we went back to the house and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon into the early evening, when Ann and I packed up and headed back to Indy. Overall, it was a fun, relaxing, weekend. It wasn’t nearly long enough, but they never are. At least I got a chance to have someone take a picture of Ann and I together.
That’s about all I have to bore you with. Have a great week!

You and Ann look very cute together! Also, you are one goofy-looking schmeckel with a goatee! You look like a bouncer, not an IT Guru…
It’s a beard, though it’s not directly obvious from the picture shown.
I’m liking the beard John, I should try growing one really long and legally changing my name to “Cap’n Purple.” Nice pic of you and Ann by the way, we need to get together some time when things calm down a bit on my end.
Agreed, I like the beard too. We do need to get together sometime, let me know when things have calmed down a bit for you and we’ll set something up!
I forgot no such thing! That pie better be waiting for me in the fridge right where I left it.
I make no guarantees. Fred has been eyeing it.
I think you should grow out a thick, shaggy beard. Like an afro for your chin.
Hahahahaha I don’t think that will happen anytime… ever.
I keep it trimmed.
I think I have made my stance clear.
Shaggy beard for Mr. MMtMM!
