I just realized that I don’t have many friends here in Indianapolis. I have my close friends whom I’ve always had around (for as long as I care to remember), and they have some friends whom i’ve been introduced to…. but I’m not sure I consider those other people friends. They’re alright, and they aren’t ever rude or mean to my face (behind my back who knows), but I wouldn’t say I’m ever really compelled to hang out with them, unless my real friend does. One or two of them I get along with pretty well (rather, they don’t annoy the hell out of me and I can actually hold a conversation with them).
I have a friend (Kyle Purple, of Lafayette Indiana…) who looks exactly like the guy who plays the “PC” in the Mac vs PC commercials of late. Ironically he’s also in the IT industry, and has the most experience in… PC’s. Regardless, I’m realizing more and more that he’s the kind of person I find myself wanting to hang out with. Someone who is smart, and likes the same things I do, able to hold an honest conversation and who has a sense of humor that isn’t always crude (though it quite often can be too).
I have other people I know who I loosly consider to be friends. They’re guys I’ve worked with in the past two years at the company I worked for prior to Proxito. One lives in Indianapolis now, and wants to hang out more. I think that’s a great idea. The other was the CTO of that company, someone who I have learned a lot from. The three of us are supposed to get together a couple of times before he moves to Austrailia.
Brian, my business partner, and I rarely do anything or spend time with each other outside of Proxito, now. We used to hang out, watch movies, grab dinner, etc. Nowadays we rarely do anything outside the office, and when we do it’s usually in some way related to work. That’s not to say we’re not friends anymore, but just that our friendship isn’t what it once was.
Ann is my girlfriend, who I really like as does my family. She works some crappy hours so doesn’t get off work until 11pm at the earliest, sometimes as late as 1am. That means I don’t usually get to see her much durring the week, unless we have lunch or dinner together on days when we can manage that. I see her nearly every weekend, and we devote most of our weekend time together to spending time with each other. I like doing that, though.
so…
If any of you know of cool people (yourself included) in Indianapolis, let me know.
I’m a mac…

I completely agree with your appraisal of Kyle Purple. I, too, find similar qualities in him…plus he’s hot and definitely does not closely resemble “PC.” I guess that’s why I’m marrying him…
Glad we agree on the “cool” factor of Kyle (though he really does look like PC… but I think that’s a good thing!)
Glad you think he’s as cool as I do
I love those Mac vs. PC commercials! The newest one with the both of them in therapy makes me laugh every time!
Believe you me, pal-o-mine, I’d love to live closer to you so that we could hang out! You are greatly missed and we love it when you are in town (even if it’s only once a year or so!).
Hope to see you soon, Mr. MMtMM!
